Dr. Vo Khuong Dien Wins the 2024 Young Researcher Award Presented by the Vietnam Society of Theoretical Physics
Dong Nai University (DNTU) Congratulates Dr. Vo Khuong Dien for Winning the 2024 Young Researcher Award from the Vietnam Society of Theoretical Physics Dong Nai University (DNTU) congratulates Dr. Vo Khuong Dien, a researcher at the university, for winning the prestigious 2024 Young Researcher Award presented by the Vietnam Society of Theoretical Physics. This award is given annually to young scientists under the age of 35 who have made outstanding contributions in the field of physics. The award was first announced in 2010 and has since become a goal for many researchers. Dr. Vo Khuong Dien, born in 1996 in Hau Giang, has built an impressive academic background, receiving a research scholarship at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, in 2019 and successfully defending his doctoral thesis at the end of 2022. Throughout his studies at NCKU, Dr. Dien had the opportunity to work with leading professors and esteemed colleagues, which helped him accumulate in-depth expertise, particularly in theoretical research on Excitons — a special state between electrons and holes in materials. Since March 2024, Dr. Vo Khuong Dien has officially joined Dong Nai University as a researcher. He has quickly made a mark in the scientific community with three published papers in international journals, one of which he is the lead author. In sharing his emotions upon receiving the 2024 Young Researcher Award from the Vietnam Society of Theoretical Physics, Dr. Vo Khuong Dien said: "I am very honored and happy to receive the Young Researcher Award this year. This is the first time I have been recognized with such an important award in the field, so the joy and pride are even more special. This award not only acknowledges my efforts and contributions but also serves as an inspiration for me to continue contributing to the scientific community." He believes this will be an important stepping stone for him to pursue future research projects. Research on Excitons and the Challenges Encountered Dr. Vo Khuong Dien’s research focuses on the phenomenon of excitons in two-dimensional materials. When light is applied to tin-chalcogenide two-dimensional materials in different directions, excitons with diverse properties are formed, offering significant potential for valleytronics — a research direction currently drawing global attention. He also shared the challenges he faced during his research: "Access to international literature and equipment has improved significantly, but there are still limitations regarding technology. Moreover, I had to put in a lot of effort to meet the strict requirements of international journals both in terms of research quality and English writing skills."

Dr. Vo Khuong Dien hopes that his work will not only contribute to the field of physics but also inspire DNTU students, especially in exploring the exciton phenomenon and promoting scientific research at the university. The Young Researcher Award is not only a personal pride for Dr. Vo Khuong Dien but also a source of pride for DNTU, as the university now boasts another exceptional researcher passionate about science and contributing to the development of knowledge. We hope that Dr. Dien will continue to achieve many more accomplishments in his career, inspiring future generations of students.
