On July 25, 2026, Dong Nai Technology University (DNTU) hosted an academic exchange program featuring Prof. Nguyen Trong Dong and Dr. Trinh Thanh Thuat from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The program brought together lecturers and students from the Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Engineering, providing a platform for academic networking, knowledge exchange, and the exploration of new opportunities for research collaboration between DNTU and international partners. The event formed part of DNTU’s ongoing efforts to advance the internationalization of its research and academic activities. It also contributed to the implementation of the GREENSEA Project – ERASMUS-EDU-2025-CBHE, which focuses on strengthening international collaboration in education and research while promoting green transformation and sustainable development. Through academic exchanges of this kind, DNTU continues to expand its international academic network, foster knowledge sharing, and create opportunities for joint research and capacity building with universities and research institutions worldwide.

Continuing the program, Dr. Trinh Thanh Thuat, a researcher at PoreLab – NTNU, delivered a presentation entitled “Decoding Carbon Materials: How Atomic-Scale Simulations Support Hydrothermal and Experimental Adsorption Technologies.”

The presentation focused on research directions in carbon materials, adsorbent materials, atomistic simulations, and multiscale modeling, highlighting the potential of integrating computational simulations with experimental approaches in the research and development of functional materials.

These approaches offer promising applications in environmental remediation, biomass by-product valorization, and the development of advanced adsorbent materials. They also create opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, environmental engineering, and technology.

Dr. Trinh Thanh Thuat has authored more than 90 international scientific publications, with numerous studies published in prestigious journals, including Nature Communications, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, and Physical Review Letters.

In addition to the academic presentations, the program also provided an opportunity for NTNU experts to tour DNTU’s facilities, gain insights into the university’s research capabilities, and discuss potential areas for future collaboration.

The two sides exchanged views on a range of research directions, with key areas including:

  • Applying AI, modeling, and simulation to environmental research;

  • Developing carbon and adsorbent materials from biomass and agricultural by-products;

  • Researching water treatment and heavy metal remediation;

  • Applying drones and autonomous systems to environmental monitoring;

  • Integrating atomistic simulations with experimental research;

  • Co-supervising undergraduate and graduate students;

  • Establishing joint research groups; and

  • Promoting international scientific publications.

Những nội dung trao đổi góp phần mở rộng không gian hợp tác giữa DNTU và NTNU, từ giao lưu học thuật đến các hướng nghiên cứu có tính ứng dụng, liên ngành và tiềm năng phát triển trong tương lai.

DNTU Advances the Internationalization of Research Activities

Through the program, DNTU continues to expand its network of connections with international universities, research institutions, and experts, while providing lecturers, researchers, and students with opportunities to engage with advanced scientific and technological trends, exchange expertise, and enhance their research capabilities.

International academic exchange activities also contribute to strengthening research collaboration, fostering the development of interdisciplinary research groups, and expanding opportunities for international scientific publications, in line with DNTU’s development orientation for the new phase.

With its vision of becoming an internationally oriented applied university, DNTU continues to strengthen international academic and research collaboration, expand its network of global partners, and develop research directions closely aligned with innovation, green transition, and sustainable development.
