As part of its internationalization strategy and ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of education in the Health Sciences, Dong Nai Technology University (DNTU) recently concluded a successful academic exchange program at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) in the Philippines. The delegation included lecturers and students from DNTU's Faculty of Technology.

The program was designed to provide Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology students with opportunities to experience advanced educational practices, engage in internationally standardized clinical training, and strengthen their global competencies in today's rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

1. Hands-on Training in a State-of-the-Art Simulation Laboratory

A key highlight of the exchange program was an intensive practical training session at NEUST's Simulation Laboratory, one of the leading clinical simulation facilities in the Philippines.

At the laboratory, DNTU students gained hands-on experience using high-fidelity patient simulators capable of recreating realistic emergency scenarios. These intelligent robotic patients can be programmed to simulate real-time physiological responses and automatically adjust vital signs—including blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate—based on students' clinical interventions.

This experiential learning model offers several significant benefits:

• Strengthening clinical reasoning: Students develop critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and emergency response skills in realistic healthcare scenarios.
• Enhancing teamwork: The program promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology students throughout the patient care process.
• Ensuring patient safety: Students build confidence and master essential clinical procedures in a risk-free environment before providing care to real patients during hospital placements.

2. Exploring Advanced Medical Education and Research

In addition to simulation-based training, the DNTU delegation visited NEUST's automated medical laboratories, advanced clinical skills centers, and applied research facilities.

The Philippines has long been recognized as one of the region's leading countries in healthcare education, with a strong emphasis on practical competencies, innovation, and global readiness.

Through academic visits and professional exchanges:
